Word of the Year 2026 – Intentionality

Beautiful autumn trees are the backdrop to an essay on intentionality

In·ten·tion·al·i·ty

/inˌten(t)SHəˈnalədē/

noun

  • 1. the fact of being deliberate or purposive.
  • the quality of mental states (e.g., thoughts, beliefs, desires, hopes) that consists in their being directed toward some object or state of affairs.

Each year in October on my birthday I choose a Word of the Year to study and incorporate into my life. This year I selected Intentionality

This season of my life is about noticing what matters and releasing what does not. It is about faith practiced quietly, love chosen daily, and stories preserved with care. I am not writing to explain myself, but to remember honestly for those who shared this life with us, and for those who may one day seek to understand it. This website is not a guide or a conclusion. It is simply a record of a life lived attentively, faithfully, and with intention.
