2027 Word of the Year: Live

Friendships in Retirement

My 68th Year: LIVE

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  John 10:10

I have spent a year learning to accept the past, forgive what I can, and make peace with what cannot be changed. That work will continue, but I will no longer allow it to occupy more of my life than it deserves.

I want to be present for the life God has given me. I want to love Michael well, deepen my faith, nurture the relationships that matter, create beautiful things, remain curious, and welcome experiences I have yet to imagine.

I will make plans, but leave room for unexpected pleasures. I will honor my responsibilities without allowing them to consume my days. I will continue growing, but I will also take pleasure in who I am today.

And if God grants me another birthday, I want to look back and say, with gratitude and without needing to qualify it:

I lived this year. Fully.
